Mutopia (2008)

Mutopia (2008) by the Flaming Lotus Girls is a spiral of eleven interconnected monsterous plants, rising from ground-level pods to the 27-foot high central structure. Featuring interactive flame and kinetic effects, the installation creates a wildly exciting environment of sculpture and spectacle. Intended to describe divergent evolution of related beings, the overall design was a collaboration by many Flaming Lotus Girls, organized by myself and Jessica Hobbs. Mutopia’s first show was as a grant-supported installation at Burning Man 2008. Since then it has thrilled multiple events in California and Nevada. More about Flaming Lotus Girls.
